Bucket Seat Swap
Bucket Seat Swap
Hi guys, its been a while since ive posted anything. Since the last time I posted I added cab lights and few other little things.
Anyways, ive really wanted change out my 60/40 bench for buckets. To anyone thats done this, is it an exact bolt up, or is there minor modification. Also where can I buy buckets? Thanks

It is an exact matchup. But the carpet/flooring doesn't have the holes cut in them. But if you cut the floor and tap the holes, you're good to go. I did it about 4 or 5 months ago. Got my seats and console from an Expedition in a junkyard for $100.
I put a Corbeau bucket seat in for myself on the drivers side only. I have some nagging injuries and four hours of driving with the stock seat would leave me in agony. I have done several 14 hour days in a row driving with the bucket seat and while I was tired, I didn't hurt.
Consider getting a 5-point harness to replace the stock seat belt. There are 4-point buckle belts too. The buckets are usually not rated or equipped for the integral seat belt in the stock seat. You have to leave the old seat belt warning system in place. This is part of the female part of the buckle. The harness will connect to the upper seatbelt anchor for the back seat, at least in a SuperCab. You may need a harness bar for a SuperCrew.
You will need an seat extender to put the seat in a truck, kinda like a metal crate with a seat on top. Make sure you can adjust the seat. It helps to lean back and take a nap sometimes.
Besides looking hella cool, the 5-part harness is much more comfortable and safer. I got black cloth covered seats with a red nylon harness.

its a direct swap minus cutting holes in the carpet.
I didnt tap the holes out, just lined the bolt up and hammered it in with my cordles 3/8" makita.
check out my "console shifted" link in my signature for my swap pictures and notes
