Headers will give you a performance increase hp/tq wise. Gears will help you regain what power you lost if your lifted, or it will give you better towing gear if your stock height because you'll have more low end power. More info on your truck and your intentions for it would be helpful.

then get headers first, if you really wanna hit 14's easily throw in a 75 shot of nitrous

I'd start building that motor if you plan on running nos. And while your doing headers I'd do a set of hi-flow cats or just delete yours completely.

True, but he's gonna need a tune anyways if he wants to hit 14's.

You need a TB spacer and warm air intake (ebay 14.99 special) if you want to hit 12's

is this truck a short box regular cab 2wd? Even if it is you will probably need both to even come close along with custom tuning. Also stepping up to a 4.1 ratio will lower your et more than long tubes will

long tubes with a custom tune no doubt. THEN gears, THEN blower.

I say the gears. Headers are not gonna do much.

When my buddy did long tubes on his 2000 F150 I think he gained 16 hp, but he already had no cats before the headers.
