calgary, lookin for --> 8 - 14 in/lbs range torque wrench
3/8" drive Inch Pound Torque Wrench in Calgary?
Anyone know of a good place in Calgary to get an inch pound beam style torque wrench so I can set up my differential pinion preload.
I've shopped at Canadian Tire, Auto Value and Princes Auto. They have in/lb torque wrenches but not in the lower range that I need, which would be 8 - 14 in/lbs range. Also I've searched the net with US results, but don't want to deal with brokerage/shipping issues.
TIA

8-14 is a pretty wide range. It'd be kind of ghetto, but if you have the room for a beam torque wrench, you could attach a fish scale to the end of your ratchet. Multiply the length of the ratchet times the pull on the scale to get in-lbs. For example, 1.5lb (24 oz) times 7" equals 10.5 in-lb of torque.
8 to 14 inch lbs is very light unless you mean ft-lbs.
I have a KD TOOLS # 2955 in my hand as I type and it's so small at 0 to 60 in-lb/0-7 newton meters that the drive is only 1/4".
Used in such places as torqueing transmission valve bodies etc.
Only torque measurement that light may be the 'twisting torque' on the pinion.
I don't think you want a 3/8 drive for such a small reading.
In any event, a small wrench of any quality even a torsion beam type will cost more than a 'few'.
Good luck.

That's what it's for 'twisting torque' on the pinion
That's what it's for. Haynes manual instructs to take the reading before removing pinion nut, then torque back to this reading when putting things back together. I'm replacing the pinion seal. Haynes manual doesn't say what to expect. Searches on the net gave me the 8 to 14 in/lb range. Also add 5 in/lbs when installing a new seal.
I've found this Micro-Adjustable Torque Wrench, it's a ¼" drive
http://www.flexibleassembly.com/Prod...ustable-Series
which scale range is 20 - 150 In Lb
also

and the dial type

it's all in the states though
