E-Fan ... Work in Progress

Finally got started on my efan mod ... what do you think?

Actually, I really did finally get started on my efan mod. After some head scratching, I've come up w/ this ...
(Mark VIII fan mounted in a factory 4.2 shroud)

@ the first one

You seem to have the fan nicely mounted in the shroud there

The first pic looks like a barbed wire job. Let us know how you like the fans, I've been debating on getting these for mine.

I've looked at so many efan installation pics over the last few months, I'm seeing them in my sleep. I was on a joke website a few days ago when I came across that pic of the computer fans. For a second I forgot I was on a joke site and thought I was still searching for efan install pics

Toyz, I have a DCControls FK-50P controller I'll be using to run the fan. I'll most likely do a quick write-up of the install, but the shroud work will be 4.2 specific, as the shrouds and the clearance between the shroud and the water pump are different between the 4.2 and the 5.4.

looking good Keith!

all though you might want to put the radiator cap back on in the first pic if you want to prevent overheating

Why an e-fan? Is this for better cooling when stopped in traffic, or is this a gas mileage improvement thing?

Possibly a slight mileage increase, less fan noise ... mainly because I like to tinker

More parts ... (bracket to mount the fan controller)

It removes parasitic drag from the engine, freeing up some power

No difference on cooling really, -"that's needed", I should say. These engines tend to run on the cool side anyways. On average, the E-Fan substitute will free up 15 HP. A noticeable 15 lol.

The deal with the Mark VIII is the big amp draw juicing up. It's only for a short period of time, but you may have to upgrade some wiring to be safe. I'm sure fairlaner will handle that one appropriately in this write up.

BTW- Yea, you may see and increase in mileage. Most likely, if everything else has been maintained properly.
