2 or 4 ABS?

99 4.6L 2WD i need to replace my pads and rotors, there asking if i have 2 or 4 wheel ABS? I have disks in the front and drums in the rear. Is it safe to say i have 2 wheel ABS? or is there a better way?

Thanks

With 2 wheel abs the abs is in the rear, so no just because you have drums doesn't mean the rear isn't abs. I could be mistaken, but I believe if your front rotors have abs they will have teeth like a gear on the backside around the hub.

I thought 99's were all are 4 wheel disc. I've never seen one with drums, yet. One-channel, one-sensor ABS for the rear.

I had a 99 4.6
It was 4 wheel disk, with 4 wheel abs.
2 wheel sensors; 1 at each wheel in the front, 1 sensor in the diff at the back.

doesnt matter. if you dont have front ABS then the rotors will still work you just dont have the sensor to hit the teeth on the back of the rotor.

my rotors have ABS teeth and my spindles have the mount for front ABS but my truck doesnt have front ABS

How can I tell if I have the 1 sensor abs for the rear? I have abs for the front on my 97. I always thought no abs for the rear on mine.

I know I don't speed sensors at each front wheel on my 98. I worked on a 98 van recently that had had them. I would think you have to have speed senors at each wheel in front and one speed sensor on of the rear axle for the rear.

So I guess you could look to see if you have sensors @ the front wheels.

But yea, like I said before, one channel ABS is more common for 97-98. Just the rear.

Just tell them to give you a price with and without. I don't see why they asked that anyway. Most people won't know.

Right, at the front,- the sensor would be right there, -inside the wheel.

There is nothing built with just front ABS - all ABS is either rear only or 4 wheel.
