STILL no 4x4 Checked system NEED HELP
I have a 1998 F150 4x4. It is not going into 4 wheel drive low or high .I have been reading forums all day. Here is where I am so far.
Have voltage on both Actuator solenoids. Ground either ones ground or (return) and actuator works fine in both directions. Vacuum and operation from the solenoids down is working properly by my assumption. Removed the sensor in the differential and pushed the ball in and out while checking with a meter. Works fine. Fuse 23 is good. I am starting to think this only leaves the GEM. No matter what position floor shifter is in there is no 4x4 or low range lights. Does anyone have experience and any insight.
Thanks

More info!
I have tested the position switch again and I am posting how for the next person that might need to do the same. My switch is definitely good. I think I have check everything that would only leave the GEM. I was hoping someone else might have some input before I shell out the bucks and do the work to change the GEM. Does anyone know if I have eliminated everything. I also read somewhere that the 4x4 lights flash when you turn the key on doing a test before you start the vehicle. May have but I sure don't remember it. Neither 4x4 light comes on at all at any time now.
The switch is located next to the breather hose on the front of the transfer case. There are two wires going into it. Both these wires get grounded when you shift into 4x4. One is Gray. It gets grounded when you shift into 4Hi and stays grounded in 4Lo. The other is Light Blue with a Black stripe and gets grounded when in 4Lo. In 2 wheel drive they are not grounded. To test the switch you need a multi meter that can test for continuity. Remove the connector and test the the prongs for continuity to ground. Shift into 4Hi test and then into 4Lo and test again.
