Feeling left behind....

Does anyone else feel left behind in truck technology like I do? I bought my truck new in 2001 and it feels like i've lost touch with truck technology. Now i'm reading about "Eco-boost" V-6's etc. that according to their numbers would kick my 5.4's butt! I guess that's what happens when you have kids and can't afford the latest and greatest! But, I still I LOVE my 2001 F-150, what a great truck!

I must admit, the new trucks are tempting and man do they have some nice features. I'm in the same boat as you, bought mine brand new in 02'. It was a great feeling, driving that brand new truck off the lot, all of 10 miles on it, that new truck smell. Mine has been such a great truck. It's given me very few issues and best of all, it's paid for. I'm going to try to hold out another year or so if I can. For me, it's definitely more a want than a need.

I've been left behind all my life. I'm comfortable with it.

I'd love to have a new F-150 but my 01 is paid for, still looks good and draws compliments.

even if i could afford a new truck, which i cant since im in college still, there is no way that if i had a new truck that i could get anything done. there are so many things that i do with my current truck that i couldnt bring myself to do to a new truck, i haul lots of wood, load gravel, tow trailers through basically quad paths. if i did any of that with a new truck it wouldnt be very new very long, and at this point the fact that i can still do it with this truck shows how tough these trucks really are.

Speaking of tough - anyone watch Ax Men last night? They drove a Super Duty off the road and had to pick it out of the ditch with a yarder - and they drove it away.

I saw that. The guy claims "He doesn't know how that happened." :o

Needless to say the owner of the company wasn't happy.

seeing the prices of the new trucks makes me not be so sad about things even though I really dig that new EB set up and those Raptors too.

I had contimplated on trading in my 02. First was in 07 B/C I did not like the current body 09-present at the time. I am still making payments on it as I purchased in 06 and had to take a 6 year note to get the truck. The more and more I hate the payments the more and more I feel in a few months she will be paid for. I am putting every possible cent in to the payment to pay her off early.

Likes- love the body as I have the 1st gen supercrew, NO TPMS bulls**t, no "daylight "front doors or whatever the hell Ford calls that "notch" in the front doors of the 04-present trucks that is like the Super Duty.

dislikes- IFS 4x4, all the asociated vaccum crap on the 5.4

All in all eventually I will begin to make my 02 the way I want it and NOT have a truck payment!!
