Light bulb on 4 Wheel Drive switch on dash - need help; part number?

My 2000 Ford F150 5.3 Supercab has 234,200 miles and going strong.

I have had to replace the little bulbs behind all of the climate control switches, but I can't seem to find WHERE TO BUY the really small light bulb that goes in the four wheel switch located on the dash, just to the climate control switches. You know the one: the switch that you use to switch to 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive. I hate a dash light that doesn't light up.

Any help where to find those little light bulbs. Part number or after market number?

I'm going for 300,000 and want everything to work right, just to show off to my friends who drive foreign cars and trucks.

Just replaced the fan resistor this weekend so now I have four speeds on my heater/AC fan. That will make the wife happy.

I'm not sure since my truck is 2WD but if you could post a picture, I could be more positive.

I'm going to guess on it being a 74

Never mind guys. The Ford dealership said the light bulb (in the little holder) is not available by itself. You have to buy the whole switch for $58 if you want the light bulb. I can use a flashlight or overhead light if I want to switch to 4 x 4. Not that big of a deal.

There's only 3 positions. Far left is 2wd. Middle is 4hi and right is 4lo. Unless you are stopped, trans in N or P and have your foot on the brake, it won't go into 4lo.

My light has been out forever... I was able to get it to come on for a little while if I gave the switch a 'tap' with my finger.... But that trick does not work anymore...

As long as the lights come on the dash when you are in "4wd" and "Low", that's all you really need to know...

From a pop-in standpoint, they are correct. The unit is sealed so you would have to open it up to gain access to the bulb.

light bulb for 4-wheel drive selector switch

I don't know if this will help but I have a 1998 Lincoln Navigator and the light bulb in the 4-wheel drive selector switch just went out the other day. I'm like another here that can be driven "buggy" by a light that is out in a vehicle. Anyway, I will about guarantee the switch referenced in this thread is identical to mine and the bulb for it IS easily removed. Just twist a quarter turn from the back with a slotted screwdriver and it will just drop out. It is similar to the type "b" wedge bulb but a smaller diameter. It is 24mm overall length and 6mm in diameter with a blue silicone covered bulb. The problem is I fear I will have to go to the Lincoln dealer to get a replacement because I haven't been able to track one down (yet) otherwise.

In a related matter, I have been going through hoops the past 2 weeks trying to find replacement bulbs for the EATC module in my Navigator and ended up ordering 5 LED type from Automotive Illumination website. Waited 8 days for a 2-day priority package only to get them and find they didn't work. Yesterday I stopped by an Auto Value store to see if they had a line on any local distributors for these types of bulbs and they happened to have them in stock but only had three and their computer would only allow them to sell them in packs of 5 (for $17.00 with tax). Luckily, their warehouse is only 3 blocks from my apartment and I was able to pick them up there today. The local Lincoln dealership said they could get them but it would take a week and cost $13 per bulb. The bulbs I found at Auto Value are actually listed for a Toyota 4-Runner but they are identical to what came out of the circuit board in my EATC module. As soon as I get the time I will be pulling the module (again...) to replace them but am confident they will work this time.

Auto Illumination has the OEM looking bulbs for $1.99 per bulb but also only sell in quantities of 5. But after my experience with the last order I will not be ordering anything from them again. The Auto Value bulbs are actually supplied by Dorman Products (www.dormanproducts.com).

I hope this information benefits those who are fed up with burnt out bulbs or poor illumination in their dashes, etc. In the meantime, I will try and update my post confirming these new bulbs work once I get the time to replace them.

Okay, I have tried the new bulbs for the EATC module and found they do not work. I am about at my wits end here now. There has to be someplace that sells these bulbs but I can't find anyplace but the Lincoln dealer and I hate to have to spend $13.00 per bulb. Especially since I need to replace 4 out of the 5 bulbs. Does anyone have a line on a distributor and part number for these bulbs? As near as I can figure out, the part number is F87F-14A608-JB (according to the back of the circuit board).
