Heater acting funny

Hey guys ive got a question for yall. My heater for some reason doesnt work all the time and nither does the ac sometimes. It seems as though the door that lets it go from hot to cold is not functioning properly. If i have it set on cold it doesnt blow cold but the heat stays on. but sometime the ac works until i take off then you can hear the door bang shut and it blows heat again. This is very unwelcome to me because it getting warmer outside but not quite warm enough for the windows down but the heat coming through the vents from the wind driving down the road makes it very stuffy in the truck. Anyone else had a problem like this or even understand what im asking? i think the door is called the blend door but correct me if im wrong. oh and when i put my vent setting to floor it blows out of the defrost when i dont want it to.
Thanks for any help or advice,
Spencer

Check the little vacuum lines behind the battery. They are known to crack.
