My alternater seems to have died..

Gotta get out there in the morning and check it out make sure it aint a connection but when I was out tonight the battery light came on and my edge says its only charging at around 11 volts.
Whats the best cheapest option for alternators? looked at Oriellys selection of alternators they have a few to chose from.
Looks like stock is 95 amps wondering if I oughta buy one that has more and if anyone knows of ones I should stay awy from.. I really hate the ford alt. gauge. it was in the normal range while the edge says its not charging..

Most aftermarket alternators are around 130 amps, they will ask you if its a 6 rib/groove or a 8 rib/groove pully. I found the alternator, tensioner assembly, idler pully and new belt at advance auto for 295 out the door which is a good deal to me. I bought a remanufactured with a lifetime warranty, hell you cant even get a new one from ford anymore and they only offer a 12mo/ 12,000 mile warranty, I believe I would take my chances aftermarket.

My alternator was on its way out but no light, I had a diode that was staying open not allowing the battery to charge fully hence me always having dim lights.

I've had issues with 2 of their alternators. One went bad 2 days after installing it. The other had a light to medium pitched whine. Luckily they have a good return policy and swapped it out, no questions asked. Everything's been fine since. When they bring it out, take it out of the box and spin the pulley to check for any squeaks.

How old is your battery? Make sure it isn't the battery.

I agree....With easy to get to part like an alt. I would go with one with a lifetime warranty as well...Autozone also has lifetime warranty brake pads also. Wear them out, take em in and exchange for free..
