Oh well, I wasn't talking about the LD anyway.

Thanks everyone. If all goes to plan I might be getting a harley davidson if not I probably will get the 5.4. I might replace the heads. Let me know opinions on harley motors. does superchargers make them less reliable? The most I haul on a regular basis will be my dogs.

I love these threads. Ask your question to anybody who has done a 4.6 to 5.4 swap. They will be able to tell you first hand the differences between the two. Anyone else is blowing smoke.

Me too! I mean, we all know the 4.2 V6 is the "best", but since he wanted to know which V8 was "better"... I stayed out of it.

just completed my swap...my 4.6 ran great and the biggest issue motor-wise in almost 140K was a water pump...seriously cant go wrong! That being said after driving the truck with the 5.4 in it and knowing that I averaged 13mpg with the 4.6 there is really no reason to not get a 5.4. My truck with the 5.4 has soooooo much more torque its crazy, Its really not that much faster than my 4.6 with troyer tuning, but once I get my tunes for the 5.4 and a better exhaust I dont think there will be any comparison. From what I am seeing so far I think the 5.4 is actually going to get better mileage in my application. Honestly I should have bought a 5.4 from the get go, but I love my truck, and now I appreciate the extra torque that much more!
