Angry Starter

I just put the motor back in my truck. Everything is hooked up and it turns over smoothly with no binding. Bolted the starter up and it sounds like it engages but just doesnt turn the motor over. It seems like its binding itself up but i dont know why. Someone please give me some ideas before i go crazy.

Did you check all your pulleys on the front of the motor?

I swapped an alternator pulley one time and the one I put on wasn't the right one for the truck. Believe it or not,,it kept the hole motor from turning over.

i Thought it might be something like that so i put a wrenck on the harmonic balancer and turned it over and everything was smooth. and i put the test light on all the wirering and it has power. So i thought bad starter. Went and bought a new one and same problem. And also the leads to the battery are gettin hot. IM totally lost. HAve never had this problem before.

Get a voltage tester and check the terminals on the starter when it is in the start position. Check the load on the battery also. If it sat for a while during the swap, it could be the fault. Otherwise, go over everything again... double check and triple check all grounds and the solenoid layout.
