Actually I Emailed him And I got The Vin (had to ask for it)

Hi,

VIN: 1B7KF23631J217198

At the moment I'm stationed in a U.S. army base near NY, making final preparations before deploying to Afghanistan with the U.S. Convoy. The truck is already at our Military Logistic Department from Fort Devens, U.S. Army base in MA, sealed and ready to go. The Logistic Department will deliver the truck to your home. Since the truck is in a military base, and you can't go there to take it, only the Logistics Department can deliver it, because it's in their custody. Shipping may take anywhere between 1-3 business days depending on the destination.
All documents you need for ownership, service book, manuals and bill of sale, the title, will be provided along with the vehicle.
For the payment I would like to use Google as a third party. They will keep your money into a protection account until you get the vehicle and will release it to me after inspection period is over and you agree to keep the truck. So, this is not a blind transaction, you can see the truck before committing to buy and to eliminate any concerns you will have 2 days to inspect it. If you decide not to keep it Google will refund you the money, no questions asked, and shipping back will be my concern. I think this is more than fair for both of us.
I'll start the official procedure, and Google will contact you about this. If you are interested in buying it just mail me back with:
- Your Full Name - Required by Google (You'll receive important guidelines + instructions from them.)
- Your Phone Number - Required by both Google and Logistics Department.
- Your Full Shipping Address - Required by the Logistics Department (They will contact you by email with delivery/pickup instructions 1 day ahead so you can communicate what time schedule work best for your to receive the truck)
Again, I want to point out that because I am going to Afghanistan this sale is my top priority and I am looking after a fast transaction, with no delays. That is why I decided to lower the price, to avoid wasting time with negotiations and find a buyer as soon as possible.

Regards

At the moment I'm stationed in ( one is usually stationed at a base) a U.S. army base near NY, making final preparations before deploying to Afghanistan with the U.S. Convoy. The bold outs I made in the original text are follower by explanations of what the word should be in English. The grammar is actually quite good but some of the sentences are expressions taken from literal translation of French. One of the perks of being fluent in two languages is being able to spot these things.

Not to jack the thread, but here's a nice one from when I tried to sell my 1970 Mustang last year:

Buyer
i will like to inquire if this item is still available for sale?

Me
Yes, the car is still for sale. I just posted it last night.

-Andy

Buyer:
Thanks for the mail..I really love the condition of the car and i am ok with the price but i can only make the payment via paypal..you can easily set up a paypal account on www.paypal.com and send me the email address you used to register so that i can put the money through and we will arrange for the pick up as soon as you have confirmed the money in your bank account..If you already have a paypal account, send me the email address you used to register with paypal so that i can effect the payment to you.
Get back to me asap..

Me: (at this point I'm now uneasy about it)
I would feel much better if you saw the car first and we met in person. It's supposed to rain tommorrow and Monday but I'll be available all day Monday and nights after 7pm during the week.

-Andy

Buyer:
Would it be possible to send you a small amount to hold the car?

Me:
Fine - $100 will hold the car for you. He's the e-mail I use for it (Gave him a LONG dead e-mail account that hasn't existed in 4 years)

-Andy

Buyer:
I was just about to make the payment when i had this little problem
with the picking up,I got an email from my agent..i taught i included
that in my previous email.he said he won't come and pick up the car
unless i pay him the agent commission fee first in order to be able to
schedule a pick up time ,and my pick up agent head quarters is in the
United Kingdom and all commission payments made for pick up, from
anywhere in the world is sent to their head quarters in the Uk and the
only form of payments they accept is western union money transfer,
i so i have to ask you to help me with the pick up fees, i will
include the $550 they charge to pick the car and deliver it my wife(1st
class treatment), to the payments i will send through paypal, after i
have made the payments, i will need you to help me send the $550 to my
pick up agent through western union money transfer, the western union
money transfer can be made at a post office near to you, there is
always a western union agent in most post offices or online at
www.westernunion.com .I will be making the payments shortly and will
email you as soon as it has been done.
Cheers!!!!!

After that one I sent him a nasty e-mail back basically saying F-off

I had a few just like that when I posted my Honda XR100 a few months ago. I got pretty nasty because on one I had told somebody else that it was pretty much claimed. And yesterday was the first time I had someone ask about it.

It stinks that folks have to be like that. Would be nice if the websites could be held accountable for such actions, but I imagine it would be near impossible to enforce.

And MustangAndy, no worries of any hijacking here... it's all one the same subject

Do all know that there is no such thing as eBay buyer protection and that crap? Like I can't believe people are so stupid when they try to scam someone. Like how are you gonna use eBay when the car isn't sold on eBay.

And with any scam do they not realize that you have to physically be there in person to sign titles over? So dumb.

Tons of hilarious stories of guys getting back at scammers:

http://www.419eater.com/html/letters.htm

It's been a while since I've been on that site, but they convinced one scammer to fly to a foreign country collect a bunch of money.
