Mice problem

Well as ive said before my truck is sitting for the winter, that being said all you other guys that park your trucks for the winter what do you do to stop the mice from getting in. Went out to move my truck yesterday so my dad could get the camper out and mice had eaten thru my negative battery cable. Long story short had to rewire my truck for the battery yesterday and was just wondering if anyone has any tricks to keep the mice out.

I can tell you what we use for our travel trailer when it is sitting.

1) Bounce Sheets. Put several inside the cab maybe under the seats.

2) Moth *****. Use them outside only. I throw some under the trailer and around the tires as that is where they will climb up to gain access.

3) Mouse poison. I put a couple of cubes of mouse poison inside the trailer just in case they do get in. Then they can have a nice meal and die before they do too much damage.

I have also heard that Irish Spring bar soap is a great deterrent as well but I have never used it.

So far, knock on wood, I have never seen any signs of mice getting in to our trailer. The moth ***** and Bounce sheets seem to keep them away.

Man, they can reek havoc on the wiring system... When I was a kid, my parents lived outside of town where there were tons of mice. You couldn't let your car sit for more than 2 days and it had a mouse nest in it. They would eat the air filter, make nests in the glove box and chew up the wiring, causing all sorts of issues.... it was nasty. I've got some funny stories though that involve a girlfriend passenger and a mouse running around the floor boards. Eventually kept them out with rat poison, but then they would die inside the heater vents and stuff and I had to find them to get them out. So, I wouldn't say that it was a complete success.

I would put a moth ball or two behind each wheel while it is sitting and put a couple under the hood in the engine compartment as well. They won't hurt anything.
