Picture of my oem sparkplug 135,000 miles ROFL!

Well finally got around to replacing my plugs that have been in since day 1

Not the best idea but it is what it was

I work at a shop that specializes in Mitsubishi 4g63 powered vehicles and was lazy to do them myself so had another mechanic buddy do them as a side job for me.

He said have you been having any mis-fires?

I said every so often in the mornings but nothing serious LOL.

Anyway here is just 1 of the 8........3-4 of them looked like this the rest just looked worn but no deposits like this...................gap was .060"

She runs great w/ no mis-fire and a bit crisper throttle response........can't wait to see if MPG's go up a tad!

I don't think those are oem plugs. Did they come with nickel plated platinum? Didn't think they did...

In 2002+ the plugs were nickel plated. Its what was standard. Ford offered a replacement plug for those who didnt want to spend 15+ a plug...

Uh oh, I'm in the same boat. I've got 140K on the original plugs. Were they hard to get out?

A mechanic friend di dthem for me and he said they actually weren't hard to get out at all.

Then again my car has been in CA since it was built

My #1 plug was even a little farther out of gap, but no corrosion. Don't remember the exact number, but that was at 146,000. The rest had some carbon fouling. Came out relatively easy. Most of the problem is the angle and the extensions you have to use.

TRIXSNK, are you familiar with Paul Nelsons evo? Build by english racing and extreme turbo systems. I personally know him and have seen the car through its years of different builds. At one point he had the world record with the most HP on the 2.0 block somewhere around 1120. Heres some features on ETS website.

The car is insane. I have seen it run at PIR
He now runs in the 8's and has a bit more HP

In all fairness the truck had over 143,000 miles when I bought it in September. I didn't think I would have to do the plugs at 146,000 and I certainly didn't think they were the originals until they were out.

Why yes sir i am very familiar with Paul, Lucas, Aaron, Jeff and the rest of the gang at English Racing (great group of guys up there that build very fast cars)

Sad to say that Paul's car hasn't been back out in a while as i heard that Lucas and the shop have taken over the Evo after it ran a hi 8 sec pass.....they have changed the set-up and i know there are plans for it to be re-done and come back out hopefully sooner that later

Jeff Bush's 1G DSM is an awesome drag car
