So today i went to the garage where my truck is being stored in a supposed "secure" compound.. only to find my truck missing various parts... Nothing Massively big or anything.. but still parts were gone... So far ive noticed.. my Bug deflector, 3 of my 17" factory ford rims and bfg's, and my gas cap all vahished. Someone had the nerve to Swap the tires out to some painted silver "steelie" and put my spare 16's on it left the gas door wide open, so now theres possibly endless amounts of water in the tank from all the snow and rain then the warm streak we've been having.

I dont know about you , but i personally expect more when i am paying for a SECURE compound... I cant prove anything, they wont cover my loss or anything of the sort, so looks like i am out the price of those parts. ARRRRGHHHH

They should be liable for break ins and theft of personal property. Either way, it needs to be handled the same as if it were taken from your driveway. File a police report and go from there. Why would anyone take the time to steal stock rims.... And have spares with them to put on your truck. Seems odd. And the gas cap and bug deflector? WTH...... Sounds like someone who uses the compound or someone that has been in there with someone who has the code took a liking to your parts. There has to be either their insurance or your insurance that can cover the replacement of the wheels and tires at least.

 

That's just wrong man. The storage place needs to own up and be held accountable. Unless there is some fine print, I can't see how they aren't at fault. You're paying for a "secure" storage service.

 

Now that I remember right, a while back when I had a storage, I remember asking and they said they are not liable for any stolen property..... It must be in your contract somewhere. Look for it.

 

thats what insurance is for.. File a claim call the police and all. I store my Mach I every winter in a storage unit. It has a door that only I have the key to the lock not outside where anyone can access it. Still I have insurance on it and all..

 

Thats where the $(*&ty part comes in, The insurance on the truck was dropped when i bought my z28 and its been sitting there waiting for me to find an engine for it.. so insurance is of no use to me, The place its stored at is Technically 2 different mechanics garages which my dad is friends with both.. they just have a Horrible habit of not securing their secure compound, the guy with the back shop will occasionally take off earlier then the front shop owner and the front manager wont bother to check the gate and lock it thinking that the other one is there

OPP was called, but they said it is highly doubtful anything can be done, considering there is no way to find what has been taken from my truck, no identification numbers or any cameras pointed at my truck to show who had done it So to summerize the lengthy conversation pretty much a "Sorry about your luck"

 

Looks like a good time for new rims and tires bug deflectors are funky anyway. And a gas cap is cheap.

sounds like this is going to be an expensive lesson in common sense for you



#1 you dropped insurance, because like you said insurance is of no use for you and now that you need, you still have no use for it because you don't have it

#2 you stated there is a habit of the lot being left unsecure YET you chose to leave your truck there anyway

You dropped all the insurance on the truck and then stored it in a "secure" facility where you knew they have a bad habit of not securing the compound.
I'm sorry your stuff got stolen but it sounds to me like you need to accept the responsability for knowingly making 2 **** poor decision's.

 

To Clarify, when i dropped the insurance on the truck, it was in my garage. Then we moved to a new house and i had it stored, i didn't find out the door doesn't get locked till recently. and it remains there because one of the mechanics there will be doing the engine change for me

 

Well hopefully after all of this he will do the swap for free.

 

 

You're going to let them swap out your engine when they can't remember to check and see if a gate is locked? Not so sure I would. What if they forget something? Just my $.02
