4x4 takes a while to engage

When I flip the esof switch to 4hi it takes a good 10 sec for my truck to kick in to 4 wheel. I was just wondering if this is normal, my dads 250 clicks in right away. Is there anything I need to check on it?

Sometimes trying to take off from a stop light in the snow in 2wd doesn't work and sucks to wait for 4x4 to click over

10 seconds is not to long but you may need to check into the front vacuum actuator and it's ability to engage.
Once you operate the dash switch, the transfer case motor need to rotate, then the front actuator need a small time to move, so 10 seconds is not a long time.

well, i dont have esof, but after i pull the lever into 4wd, it takes about 5-8 seconds to engage the front diff. so add the time to move the motor, and 10 seconds seems about right.

When mine worked, it took a few seconds to engage. My dad has a 98, and his is the same, so I'd say that's about right.
