my 97 f150 2w wont idle! any suggestions so i can save money by not takein it somewhere?

 

Well it could be a number of things, plugged EGR, dirty MAF sensor, dirty throttle body, dirty/clogged IAC, plugged up fuel filter, bad spark plugs. Check these things first clean as necessary and see if it helps at all. Has your truck ever had a tune-up yet??

 

ohiof150xltman - I've moved your thread to the 97-03 truck area, since you have a 97.

It might help if you could be a bit more specific with your post. What exactly do you mean when you say it "won't idle"? Is the engine cold or warm? Are you in gear or in neutral? Is it "racing" instead of idling or is it just dying? Does it EVER idle, and if it does, is the idle speed steady, or is it "surging"? Please describe the exact symptoms.

Which engine won't idle ? The 4.2L's and 4.6L's are an easy fix, most likely. The 5.4L may be a little more fun.
