Spare tire assembly

Got a flat, put on the spare and when I went to put the spare away the cable didn't come down. I crawled underneath and the cable got jammed in there and it won't come out. Has anyone had this issue and is there an easy fix other than replacement?

Probably need to have someone crank it down while you are under the truck pulling on it to free it up. It needs weight.... all the time.... to properly function. The optimal situation would be that you had let the spare down .. changed the rims... and put the defective one back onto the spare carrier till time to get it fixed

I took the flat one directly to the tire shop so it was off for about 8 hrs, while I was at work and in that time the cable got all messed up inside.
I just would hate to spend the $100 for a new one if there is a way to fix it.

I've got a similar problem, however, my spare is stuck up there, tried to lower with the wrench but it just turns, any suggestions, didn't really want to cut the cable as then its unusable.

I was able to plug the tire that has the leak for the time being, but would really like to get the spare down some how.
