98 4.6 V8 Trans Help

Well my Trans is slipping a little and tommrow im going to drop the pan and replace the gasket and filter since i dont think it has been done
(truck has 188,000 Miles) and put new fluid in it but if i have to end up replacing trans would a M5OD bolt up to my 4.6 (with little mods) my truck
is a 4.6 2wd it has a 4R70W in it also where could i get one

i had an old ford granada that the trany started slipping on and i serviced the trany and it got much worse afterward

Your trans will be a 4r70w.
If your trans is slipping now, with 180k + miles, and has never been serviced, it will get worse if you service now.

If that's the case, the grit and debris in the fluid now is what is allowing your transmission to function at all.

To see for sure what trans you have, on the passenger side will be a ID plate. Don't put cleaner on it like I did to clean the grease off, it will wipe off the numbers/letters.

it has been flushed every year im trying to say the filter hasnt ever been changed and i just started to notice yesterday when i was trying to get to highway speed (it has been grandpa owned sine 1998 and then given to me (a teen that has a little bit of a led foot))
