Well... its time to swap a L motor into my 97...
I bought a L back in september of 09... and it was wrecked yada yada... i got the frame close while in school, by myself without help from my teacher...(jackass)... and have been ridin it around since early 2010... Well now ive come to realize i dont like being in a 2wd truck that i cant use during the winter... and that ill never get the truck where i want it...
So i am gonna swap the L motor over to my 97 4x4 Supercab
Sooo... correct me if im wrong... which i usually am...
When i swap my motor over, i have to or want to do the following...
1. Run my 4.6 Coil packs and wires, and make a bracket for the driverside coil pack
2. Remove the Intake runner control valve and kill it in the tune.
3. Drill and tap Intake mani crossover for ECT
4. Extend the Iac wires
5. do i have to swap flywheels means how im bolting it up to a 4r70w
6. Mount H/E and Res
7. Run an ignition Hot wire to the I/C pump
8. Swap Fuel Pumps... or Tank? and injectors
9. Mount a relay... or just run the pumps at 12v constant?
10. Get a tune...
As well as bring over the 9.75 and change te front diff gears to 3.73's...
I will also need to rebuild/build my 4r70w... or find a built one.
If i am missing anything... feel free to tell me...
My plans are to eventually put lockers in... and 4.10s for 35's when i get them...

Yes, you may opt to make brackets for both sides for hand room
2. Remove the Intake runner control valve and kill it in the tune.
Yes, IMRC is part of the old intake you dont need to worry.
3. Drill and tap Intake mani crossover for ECT
Yes, dependin on year you may also have a sener to tap in as well.
4. Extend the Iac wires
Yes, may be a few other wires too, also may require changing a wire pin out as well. Check JMC swap notes.
5. do i have to swap flywheels means how im bolting it up to a 4r70w
Depends on which 4.6 you have, Romeo or Windsor (again search JMC's notes)
6. Mount H/E and Res
Bingo, also look into E-Fans if you have not
7. Run an ignition Hot wire to the I/C pump
Yes.
8. Swap Fuel Pumps... or Tank? and injectors
You can do a single 255 LPH pump and be safe for a fair amount of boost, injectors will be swapping over with a Lightning intake.
9. Mount a relay... or just run the pumps at 12v constant?
I run mine constant 12v, MADEnterprise has a controller last I checked.
10. Get a tune...
Of course.

Transmission: See my sig, good fella there to be talking to for transmissions, look around you'll see a few recent threads from people who have bought one from him or are going to.
9.75 : Good idea, the 8.8 I had hated me twice as much as I hated it.
Save the time and money, do the 4.10s right off, or disconnect front drive shaft and use the 9.75 and bypass doing front diff twice if thats what you meant.
IMRC (Intake Manifold Runner Control) will not throw an engine code, at least it never did on mine.. I've got about 4k on the swap no codes. I just tucked the plug under the intake.
-IAC will definitely have to be extended.
The flexplate (flywheels are for manual gearbox) will need to be changed depending on which 4.6 you have. Some are 6 bolt some are 8. Don't reuse the bolts. They are like two bucks a piece at FoMoCo Stealerships. Flexplaces are about $25 on rockauto... On tapping the intake- I opted not to, and used a T fitting on the heater hose (one that goes from the front pass side intake into the firewall. I used plastic, but I've had an issue with it popping off. I would recommend brass if you go that route. I looked the intake over and couldn't feel comfortable tapping the metal crossover. I used a coil pack bracket off a mustang for the passenger side. I can take a pic if you want. I just had to drill one hole in it and both sides are bolted down with two bolts. A couple things I noticed that were not in the notes was small annoyances like throttle cable bracket. My 4.6 (and yours as well) are tall and metal. The 5.4s at least the NA ones have lower plastic ones. So the brackets don't quite match up. Just something to remember. Also the heater hose will be a bit different. The 4.6 has the intake coolant tubes on the rear pass side. The 5.4 has one up front so it's kind of a stretch. I'm subscribing, and best of luck!

some little comlications coming up but they dont look like mountains... thanks for the advice and info so far guys...
Its a 97, 4.6 romeo...
When doing the swap... what stall should i upgrade to, to keep some stress of the 4r70

coil pack on the passengers side is ghetto fabbed with the original mount and a little ingenuity. Just weld an ear on the side and drill a hole.
5.4 intake had the intake runner so I just plugged it in.
Read the swap notes religiously, and maybe get a haynes or chilton book. also I reused the 4.6 wire harness with a few mods. you should be able to as well. I also didn't get a tune and have had no codes or issues. However you may want to as it should only make things better.
I deleted my precats which I think is a sound idea for anyone doing this swap, just make sure that the shop does a good job welding it together, I have exhaust leaks on both sides on the top of the pipes now

I used the MAF from the 4.6 I'm not sure if this makes much if any difference.
And finally throttle cable brackets are different so take note.
