New Cams, Noisey Lifters ???

I have a 1998 F-150 with a 4.6 v-8. I just the the motor overhauled & install new Comp Cams # 102100. Can someone please explain to me or tell me where I might find info on how to adjust the lifters ( valve lash, pre load what ever you want to call it. ). The lifters really make alot of noise when I start it up cold. They quit down a little bit after the engine warms up. My mechanic says there is no adjustment. My lifters never made a sound till I had the motor overhauled & the cams installed. Thanks Chief Mike.

There is no adjustment. You may need to replace them. Did you use the matching valve springs?

You aren't using a Fram oil filter, are you?

Hey glc, Thanks for your reply. I installed new lifters & the matching springs. Whats the deal with Fram oil filters? (update) I got with my mechanic put my truck up on the lift while it was running. What I thought was a lifter noise seems to possibly be a rattling catalytic converter. Thanks. Chief Mike

Fram filters have an inadequate anti-drainback valve which causes dry starts.
