I'm playing with the idea of articulation on the front end. As we all know that the stock IFS is super stiff when you crank up the T bars. What can I do so I get a more flexible ride? I don't want to add long travel/straight axle/or anything drastic but I'd like to get some sort of nicer ride out of her

I already have Bilstein's they are good, but the front still needs some articulation

Didnt see it suggested, but what kinda spare do you have?? If your goin on long camping trips on rough terrain its definitely necessary to have a fullsize spare or two.

X2^^^^^

I've always wanted to see a bronco style tire carrier on the back of our gen trucks. But an easier route would be to do a hitch mount tire carrier that stands the tire up vertically like a swing away bumper would. Draw tite makes one and they sell it on 4wheelparts but seeing how you built your own basket you could probably build your own.

i would keep it in the bed or on the roof. a rear carrier would look cool, but i wouldnt trust a single point mount if off road at all.

i think the only way to get more articulation would be to remove the sway bar.

As far as a spare I carry a fullsize BFG on rim either in the bed too keep the center of gravity low, or on the roof rack if what I'm doing is very mild. I try to keep the vehicle weight down to maximize what little travel I have
I was always wondering about the sway bar, Jeepers talk about theirs all of the time, where is mine if I have one? I have torsion bars in the front so I don't know where it would go?

yes you have a front and rear sway bar. the front will look like this

it attaches to the lower control arms. if you remove it your truck will have alot of nose dive when you take a corner.

I have to be a member to see thats ok I'll flex my google muscle and find something, does it hurt to take the bar off? I'd like to make a quick disconnect so I can remove it on the trails and put it back on when I need to cruise.

if you look under your truck. its a bar that connects to both lower control arms.
