upper induction service?

I keep hearing repair shops talk about an "upper induction service". What does this do and is it worth the money? I am not too familar w/ this service and I keep hearing about the pros of removing the carbon from the induction system.

I think it's worth getting done. I had the induction service done at my local Ford dealership a few years ago at around 100k miles. I felt that I noticed better throttle response, but maybe it was all in my head. Either way, I think most will agree it's worth getting done.

I would think its things like cleaning the MAF and the throttle body...both make a huge difference. It'd be worth having it done

If that is what it is, of coarse its cheaper to do yourself. Only the cost of the intake cleaner and a few hours of time. Plus you get to know your truck a little better.

Look at this...

Ran like a champ after the cleaning.

Right, there's the "Motorvac" Service and the "BG" Service. Both are on the internet and both are similar.

But the "Motorvac" is more expensive (not by much) and more thorough.

Also, the Motorvac is the only one of the two services that's TSB'ed by the manufacturer for the three valve. The Motorvac is recommended before a plug change for 3v engines.
