2000 F-150 - is it worth it?

I'm looking at a 2000 F150 Lariat at my local Ford dealership and I'm just wondering if it's worth the price they're asking... personally it seems like too much for a 2000 but anyways:

2000 F150 Lariat 4x4
129000km
I'm assuming it has 5.4L engine
$11,995 safety/e-tested
$9,995 w/o safety

So what is that like 80,000 miles? Thats not a bad price depending on your area. Honestly, its all about what you think the truck is worth. How nice is the paint, engine bay, interior etc. Look around all the edges and body lines for a signs of paint work like blotching, rough edges, or haziness. If the truck is good to go then its not a bad deal IMO. I just searched for a 01 in my area code and it pulled up a black lariat supercrew with 87k for 12500.

I would say in very good condition with those miles, dealership 8-9k, at least around here. Truck is going on 11 years old, no matter what shape its in. Even with low miles, parts deteriorate with time. Like brake lines, motor mounts, tranny mounts.. etc.

Since when do they charge 2k for safety tests

x2.

take that "Safety test" BS off. and talk him down. anything over 9K is a ripoff.

whenever we go car buying, we always use the phrase "well I'm driving a truck home today. whether it comes from your lot or the lot down the street is up to you"

always seems to get them

Thanks for the input! I figured it should be worth around 7-8 k too, based on what i've seen on auto trader and kijiji.

Price doesn't sound terrible. Definitely check the engine. Lariats came with both 4.6 and 5.4 V-8s.

Yes, on the trading market at present. The difference in items sold is still at a 20% ish more cdn$ over American. 2k for a safety? They know something you don't? Red flag maybe?
