Red face Another Console Build

Last weekend I thought I scored an expy console at the junkyard, turned out to be an Explorer console. Man I thought I hit the jack pot, especially when the guy told me I was getting it for twenty bucks. After telling my tale to the guys at work, we got to brain storming. I'm going to try my hand at fiberglass, I've got a little experience with it fixing Hummvee hoods but that's about it, and fab up my own console. So here goes...

In October I posted a thread about a Stealth Box that was in the truck when I bought it:

Here's the console that I thought was an Expy:

Obviously this was to narrow and the lines didn't match up right, and of course I didn't take pictures of that, so I tore it apart!

Here's the mock up pictures so far:

Last thing, what's the following wiring harness go to? My gut is telling me power seat option? (The white one is for rca headphone jack)

Tomorrow I'm supposed to be getting a Dremel to cut this bad boy up, should be fun. Feel free to leave pointers.

so you still going to use the stealth box then too?

If you're gonna have to cut and dremel it all out, why not just start from scratch and make one with glass/wood

I decided to go ahead and leave the stealth box in, "just in case" I decide to put another amp in.

Not sure, this just seemed like the easiest way to go about it, kind of shooting from the hip as I go.

Thanks for the offer about meeting off 35 again, I'm sure the wifey would love that on Christmas day lol, I get enough about being the Grinch as it is. We'll see what happens I've got leave starting this weekend so this is my vacation project.

After looking at it for a couple days two things happened:
1. The design started getting more and more intense and complicated.
2. I've come to the conclusion that doing it the way I originally planned was going to be more hassle than its worth.

If the specs match I'll get Pat's shell and make that work, if not I'll have to find a jig saw and some glue.

Anyone have any experience with Masonite board? One website suggested using it because it is easier to shape than using MDF or ply wood. Right now I'm trying to decide on using Masonite board with a MDF frame or using Masonite board to go around the stealth box and then build the lower floor portion out of MDF.

other option is buy the parts of my console and make your own top and rear fillers if it doesnt work, you can atleast use the sides tho

Yeah, I'm sure it will. Going to pull the trigger on using Pat's pieces because if I build it myself I see myself making it look like an fighter pilot's ****pit.

Can you take the stealth box, build around it with the expedition console, and use the white skeleton of the console a's a stablizer just cut it in half to mount the cup holders, then add the lid?
