2002 Blower motor fan speed only works on 3 & 4

My 2002 F-150 superCrew 5.4L's blower motor (heat and A/C) only blows on the 3rd and 4th position, not on 1 and 2. Is it the fan speed control **** thats bad or the blower motor itself? I have not checked into anything yet and would like to know a good place to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Had the same problem on my 97 5.4.......only worked on speed 4 (high). Just about an hour ago i was in the dash, adjusting the cable that goes to the indicator that tells you what gear your in on the column.

I was putting everything back together and the fuse pannel cover kept falling off so i stuck it on there and punched it. instantly now i have fan speeds 1,2 and 4........ very strange, but im happy!

Great info!
My 98 F150 had similar issue start today.
Fan only worked on high.

I went to Advance Auto parts and bought the blower motor resistor (3 hole style) for $22.

Installed it in less than 3 minutes.
Voila! Problem solved!

Thanks F150online.com!
