I have a 2002 f150 and have a problem with the 4x4 working. I can flip the switch and the relay will work but 4x4 wont be engaged. If i drive forward slow and then go in reverse a little ways it will lock in most of the times. I have a hard time getting it to engauge in the winter. any suggestion?

I tried searching but couldn't find the same problem.

 

i know that my friends 04 f150 he has to turn it to 4hi and roll put it in reverse and roll backwards a lil bit for it to engage

 

but sometimes with mine even doing that doesn't work

 

Thats how mine was performing before the shift motor quit making any movements.
