Stock 4wd Foglamps on a 2wd??
Stock 4wd Foglamps on a 2wd??
Hello forums!! I've been a lurker for a while, but now I turn to the internets for help! I've got an '02 Screw 2wd Lariat. I recently crushed my front bumper and grill/headlight surround.
In searching for replacement parts, I came across a very good deal on a full, factory replacement bumper with fog lamps. I've been wanting to install fogs for a while now. Behind my bumper there are loose wire harnesses roughly where the factory fogs would be. My headlamp switch, however, does not give me a fog light option.
How can I test to see if these unused harnesses are indeed intended for the factory fog lamps? I know I'll need to find a new headlamp switch, but could I do something as simple as running an Ohm meter to check for continuity? I know I'm not the first person to make this change, so any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

I just finished the same change on my 2003 lariat 2wd. I bought an aftermarket valance with the no tow hook holes style like the 2wd King Ranch editions (only in grey not tan) and fog lights. The only issuse with you putting a stock 4x4 valance on is the tow hook holes will look awfully empty without the tow hooks sticking out of them.
The wiring you see is because our trucks were pre-wired for fogs and even have the mounting holes already drilled through the bumpers. Just hook the fogs up and go get a new switch with the fog light option.
I literally just bought the new Motorcraft switch at O'Reilly's Saturday for $110 with tax and put it in last night and it works great! Just don't be an idiot like me and put the valance on first before you install the fog lights lol because you'll have to remove it to get the fogs bolted in place.
