Engine VIN

Howdy, Where would I find the VIN on the engine of a 1997 Ford F series. I understand where the chassis VIN is on the frame. The engine should have a partial chassis number on it other than the valve cover sticker.

Not sure on were the VIN would be on the motor but normaly printed on the head is the motor size.

and on the valve cover will be a sticker saying what the motor is and when and were it was made.

not sure if your asking this but if you look at the VIN threw the windsheild its the 8th spot.

W means its a romeo motor. 6 means its a windsor motor. Confuzing eh?

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I got the valve cover label and windshield VIN covered. I want to check to see if.
A. Is the engine is original to the truck.
B. Have either one been stolen.

The Carfax report does not jive with what the seller is telling me.

i personaly have no idea were it is. ive had a triton motor on a stand and walked around it looking i called ford giving them every number i could find to find out about it and non of them did anything.

see if the valve cover label date matchs up with the truck. my truck was made 5/97 and the motor says 5/97 as well.

That is part of the problem, no valve cover sticker.

Yes, really. What's wrong with that?

All the car makers are secretive about where the "hidden" VIN's are. They aren't going to tell you where to look.
