Look at the lug nut washers, if you have washers. Ford has the torque #'s for your rims either stamped or raised on the washers.

I've heard of caliper bolts (anchor plate bolts) coming loose and tearing things up as soon as you touch the brakes. I can't recall which one, either the top bottom, - anyway, if the right one falls out while your driving and you tap the brakes, - the caliper whips around, explodes, blows out the tire plus screws the rim up beyond repair.

Glad your alright, that's no fun, -specially a steer tire.

BTW - Ebay for rim.
That'd have to be the bottom ones to create carnage, luckily I only lost the upper. still make a clunk.

Okay, - it's the bottom one then. Man, I couldn't remember which one I lost lol. Must have been the top. I know it was the passenger side for sure. I was pulling a four place horse trailer back and forth, - moving last year. I wasn't real heavy, but something in the front end was making noise and getting worse. I pulled over 4 times looking for that noise maker and didn't find anything wrong, - that I could see.

The bolt finally totally fell out while on the e-way, I tapped the brakes and heard a clunk, then heard the bolt bouncing down the e-way, ting, ting ting, - I passed it lol.

I quit caring enough to stop, - I just B-lined it to headquarters.

Very lucky, no damage and I could see the problem this time, with the bolt missing. I think those are the largest bolts on the truck. Ford sells those with Thread Locker "Blue" already applied . Hardness/grade on those suckers are around 11.9 if I recall. Torque's around 160-180' lbs.

This sucks my buddys G/F just had her back left full off the lug nuts fell off and 2 studs broke on her 91 exploder....

then 2 weeks later her left front came off in traffic and hit a new escape. the wheel bearing walked off and broke the brake line took the brakes rotors and every thing the lug nuts were still tight.

I have broken studs do to over tightening but never had one break on the road. as Jbrew said 100lbs. i didnt have a TQ wrench and tryed to wing it and snaped 2. i keep about 8 in my glove box on the "What if" so there easy to change. but now i always use a TQ wrench.

Sorry to hear....ill ask my buddy he had a set of 17" expy rims 5X135 lug pattern.

Does ANYONE know if this wheel will MATCH my wheels EXACTLY??? I have seen solid silver wheels like this...but mine have the "horseshoe" part (for lack of a better word) darkened or greyed out. I want the same. Is quality the same you think?? I'm not having luck finding anyone selling their FX4 wheels locally---DirtySCREW

The Ebay wheels are replicas. Tasca wheels will be genuine.
