F150 4wd. Issues!
F150 4wd. Issues!
Hey guys, i'm new here, been browsing the forums for a few days and cannot find the answer to my problem.
I have a 98 f150 4.6 ESOF. Last week the 4wd switch wouldn't do anything, no relays clicking, no lights on the dash. Then one day, when fulling around, it went into 4L, and the 4H light showed on the dash. I Couldn't get it out of 4l so i pulled the transfer case motor, and manually put it in 2H. Tested the Tcase motor, it was dead, so i replaced it.
Still NOTHING! Still no relays clicking, no lights on the dash. I wouldn't think the GEM because i have no other problems and besides that the truck runs better than ever. I also have NO POWER at anytime to fuse 20, and 21, inside the truck. Vacuum system seems fine.
Q's Are:
Why no power at fuse 20?
Why no lights or relays clicking?

I can't tell you what your issue is but you must have power through fuse 20 to start the motor.
It's the starter circuit.
Power is there in igniton run and start position.
The 4x4 switch signals the GEM to begin the engagment process.
the lamps won't light until they get the 'ok' signals from the Gem and the Gem from the case motor and relays. The switch does not directly light the dash lamp.
4L must be done from neutral with the brake applied, motor running.
Good luck.
