Changed My Plugs - What a difference.

Well yesterday I change all my spark plugs and coil packs and what a difference. I have an 01 S-crew with the 5.4 with 140k miles.
It took about 3 hours and was not too difficult just a lot of careful work and changing socket extensions.

The truck always ran good but there is a very noticeable difference in the idle (much smoother), acceleration and throttle response. I am sure mileage will improve but I don't track it.

I followed the direction on the forum and it all went smooth. You need lots of different extensions and I used the wobbley type extensions and not the swivel piece like some others. Removing the fuel rails made it a lot easier but now I know I need to clean my injectors after seeing them.

My engine was pretty dirty so compressed air was my friend and I blew everything out at each step.

It made such a difference I wish I would have done it long ago.

Here is a pic of my old plugs.

Good to hear, I'm planning on changing mine before winter sets in as well. Did you use Motorcraft as replacements?

Could you point me in the right direction of the thread on changing the plugs? I am looking at a couple of trucks on Sunday, and I think it would be good before winter.

here is the main one but also search. Despite what this article says you DON'T want to use anti-seize and torque to 28 ft/lbs. You also want to make sure you use diaelectric grease on the boots.

I was amazed at the difference it made.
