headlights turn on in reverse?????

I have a question why do the headlights turn on when i shift my truck into reverse? I recently purchased this truck totaled and after rebuilding it i noticed that every time i shift the truck into reverse the headlights come on high beam. everything else works fine the backup lights turn signals break lights. Does anyone know if this is a setting with the truck and can it be disabled or is it a more serous problem?

Thanks to anyone who can help

You don't say what year the truck is but the headlights coming on when you shift into reverse is not a feature that I have ever had or heard of on an F-150 and I have been owning and driving F-150's since 1987.
My first guess is that the wiring is screwed up somewhere.
Good luck figuring this one out.

It was totaled?? Who rebuilt it? I'm guessing you've got wires touching somewhere the shouldn't be. Sounds like fun...

Agreed, whoever rebuilt the truck after it was totaled probably did something odd/wrong with the wiring.

Try turning the headlight high beams on. Does the reverse light come on? It it does, sounds like they tied the two together somewhere
