towing mirrors
Ok, well, our new freezer trailer is really tall and long and heavy. So I'm install a set of air bags and a air control set up. But anyway, I need a set of towing mirrors. So I want to install a set of towing mirrors off of some one of the 3/4 or 1 ton trucks.
So what would look good you think, the ford, dodge, or chevy mirrors. I can make them work so the mounting isn't a factor, or the wiring. I'm bringing the other brands into consideration because my 97 f150 doesn't look close to its bigger brothers with the towing mirrors. So I'm looking for unbiased oppinions on this (no dodge or chevy is crap stuff). so thanks guys in advance. |
There was a guy on here awhile back...I want to say his name was "smokestained" who put the superduty towing mirrors on his. I know he was trying to sell the truck, don't know if his profile is still on here

Here's that thread you are referencing. He did sell the truck, he's got a super duty now. |

oh, who ever this truck belongs to I apologize, it was the closest one I could find to mine on the internet minus the front bumper. BUT, you have good taste! Any who: stock https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...0905091141.jpg super duty: https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...-superduty.jpg Dodge: https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...ford-dodge.jpg https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...de-mirrors.jpg got bored and quit making pics |
^^ yeah, I had seen that truck before on here.
I'm not sure, but I kinda like the dodge over the superdutys. . |

Holy cow. If you rotated those mirrors down 90 degrees it might just take flight. |
Heres what I do have (Cipa mirror, check website and shop around)
http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/p...016_837900.jpg Also check ebay, theres a new set on there thats square like the chevy ones for about the same price I got mine for. I can say mine do very well vibration wise at speed. |
dang the dodge set looks good on there

I actually forgot about this thread.
I installed a set of 99 superduty mirrors a week ago, I'm going to take them off and grind at them alittle more so I can get the cover to fit flush with the truck I was gonna buy a set like yours rus, but I got these for $70, so being the poor white boy I am I opted just to make the superduty mirrors fit. btw, your truck looks good . |
Rus, can you take one to show how far in they fold? Noticed the CIPA's dont fold in very far and on my brothers shop door leaves me 1.5" on each side at best.

The mirrors stand out about two inches more, but will extend another four inches when needed as shown below.

Hey rus, those mirrors are awesome. I looked at ebay and found some being sold by Option Racing. Are those the mirrors you have? Were they hard to install? My truck mirrors do not have blinkers on them. Would I be able to just plug in my power mirror harness and the blinkers on the new mirrors work? I looked up Option Racings website did a search, however, I can't get any information on the mirrors. Thanks!

Ebay special, go look for em. forgot the name of em but you'll find em.

with the ones Rus have, and even mine, there shouldn't be any trimming to do
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-03...item255aecd3a9 Theres what Rus has (somewhat, I may have linked to a different option package mirror) on my CIPA mirrors, I had to trim the plastic that surrounds the stud, that protrudes through the door skin. |
I like the ones Rus has. Sucks that you can't have them as power adjustable. That's my only drawback since I have power to mine. Question to you guys. It says you can't use them on supercrews. Does that mean they won't work for my expedition?

The ones on Ebay appear to be the same. The mirrors bolt in exact location of originals. The wiring for blinkers should already be in place.Just a plug n play.

I don't think they will work on yours because screw and expy are different. But i would rather have screw or expy because you can swap mirrors with expy all the way up to 2010 i believe.

Please elaborate. Lol. They don't have to telescope I just need power adjustment.
|
So in other words if I want power tow mirrors they don't make them. Fantastic haha. Can I use the ones posted above and just have them manuel?
|
holy crap
K holy crap, the ones on ebay are fully power EXCEPT for telescoping... doesnt take much to get out and pull them out.... no big deal, everything else is power! here is the link http://cgi.ebay.ca/97-03-FORD-F150-F...ht_1002wt_1139
|
Those have already been posted. The whole point is everything on my truck is power so why would I want to go back to non power? I'm not worried about the telescoping.
Sorry to derail the thread. |
The only power the tow mirrors don't have is telescoping and folding. The tilt, Signals, and heat are all available for tow mirrors. (At least from what I've seen on ebay looking for FULLY *Extend/Fold included* power mirrors.)
Power Adjustable with Signals and Heat. 03-05 SuperDuty - Ebay |

Hate to bug you with the same questions again, first time around didn't really provide any answers. How do the mirrors look after your modifying them?? Are there gaps or do they sit flush like they should?? How hard was it to modify them, was it just trimming the part that touches the door or did you have to rearrange the wiring pins or something?? Thanks for any info you can provide.
