DRL, Washers and Interior Light Problem...
My wifes 98 F150 V6 2WD Auto w/ Tilt, recently has been acting up. She parked it the other night and the DRLs stay on, the wipers won't turn on, fuses are good, dome light wont respond unless i pull the fuse for the DRLs... Could it be a switch problem, or is the DRL module close to the circuit for the wires??
Anyone that experience this before?

I think the module is pooched, seems that something in the DRL's is backfeeding to the fuse, or grounding it out. The 15A fuse for the DRL and fog lights heats up when the truck is turned off and they stay on.
I am slightly more concerned about the wind shield wipers, as I swapped relays around, checked all fuses and am about to pull apart the column to see if its the turn signal/washer switch has an issue or what...

...my buddies chevy does that. Sometimes his blinkers stop working too and then randomly they work again.
do you hear clicking behind the dash when they dont work. like i can hear what sounds like a relay clicking on and off a few times while theyre out

Found it was the DRL module is pooched, its feeding power back through the circuit. It heats the fuse to a melting point for the fuses plastic, yet will not blow it. Can you say FIRE HAZARD! Anyway thanks for the help guys, I just unplugged the module as a temp fix til I can get a replacement.
My dad's truck had this problem it turns out there is one thing that all those systems have in common its called a GEM or general electric module it controls dome lights, drl, power windows/locks/ winshield whipers, washer pump, and a few others that im forgetting, basically the bells and whistles of a vehicle. The gem is mounted to the back of the fusebox in the cab, chek for anykinda water damage, his only acts up after it has rained for a week or so, or it is very very humid outside, once it sits in the hot sun the condensation drys out and all systems work again.
Part is to espensive to replace/fix at 599 with programing fee, it has to be programed to you vin yatta yatta yatta, so we just learned to deal, thankfully my 98 doesnt have any issues with this

its drivers side behind the bumper under the drivers headlight. Just a bit smaller than a cigarette package. Part is cheap, 65bucks. GEM is only 150 ish here too, Never heard of the VIN programming but mind you depends on the parts guy a person talks to lol
exaclty lol I called Ford the other day about a tranny wiring harness for the shift selenoids on the valve body. Girl I got the first time had no idea what was happening or what I was looking for, called back ten minutes later and got the normal guy I deal with and bam 60dollar part available to order for the next business day. Just a matter of experience and give-a-damn for the job I guess. Worth a chuckle none the less
