98 f-150 fuel shut off switch

How can I tell if the fuel shut off has been tripped? I know where the switch is but dont know if its tripped. Not getting fuel to pump. Trying to eliminate the silly stuff before I replace the pump.

You should be able see the red button coming from the top of housing when looking at it. Or just feel back there and if its flush with the top of the housing its been tripped. Hope that helps.

You will be able to reset it, - if tripped. It will move when pushed. If the reset won't push downward, -it wasn't tripped.

The 98 is pretty easy to get to. I can't remember if there's any screws on the kick panel ? I think you just yank the suckers off , - don't you ? Ahhh, there might be a couple screws.

Check the ground right there next to the reset. If that grounds corroded, It won't blow the breaker, - the pump will just quit working. Yea those kick panel grounds (both sides) are pretty impodent (lol). Hell , every ground on these trucks count. I make them part of my every other year maintenance regimen, - same time I flush and swap out the coolant.

Let us know what you find ,

Good Luck

The Inertia switch (breaker) is right behind the passenger side kick panel. It will say "reset". You push that down to reset. If it doesn't move, - it wasn't tripped.
