Need help with cruise control problem
OK this is kinda a long story so here goes. Last week my 2002 F-150 Supercrew with 66000 miles blew the number 3 spark plug out of the head. I purchased the Time-Sert tool kit and a friend and I had it back running in 6 hours.
So today is the second day driving it since we tore it apart and I turned on the cruise and the cruise light came on. I set the cruise and it worked. After making my first stop running errands I got back in the truck and turned the cruise back on and went to set it and noticed it would not set. I looked and the cruise light wasn't on either, so I tried to turn it on again but the light does not come on anymore.
A little more history I never took it in for the cruise recall and when I got home I checked to see if the plug was connected and it was. It has to be connected right since the repair because it came on once since the repair.
So I haven't investigated further yet and thought I would ask you guys for suggestions.

Look the recall only exists because there is the small chance the seal will leak where the power plug connects and oil can get in the plug and maybe start a fire. I have kept an eye on it and do plan on taking it in to get it fixed at the time of the recall there was no fix it was to disconnect it and not use it. Now there is a repair so I will take it in. That does not change the fact it stopped working so you think if I just disconnect it and take it in for the repair they will fix whatever else is wrong for free? I think not that is why I am asking what should I do to troubleshoot it.
some of these trucks werent covered for the recall, i called 3 dealerships about mine and they said mine wasnt covered by the recall. mine was leaking brake fluid, they told me they would do it for about 80 bucks, i bought the part at ABC for 12 and did it myself

Just a thought...
And you are probably right, it likely will not fix it, but the very real risk of the truck burning to the ground and possibly taking your house with it (like my uncle's did) is justification enough to get it fixed.
