Hey guys what are the differences between a 1998 f150 extended cab and a 2001 f150 extended cab? Besides the 1998 only having the 3 door? I am talking half tons. Gauges the same? Anything else?

 

The interior changed a bit too, the inside of the doors are redesigned and the seats are different usually.

 

Some exterior stuff, front and rear bumpers, tail lights are different. I think it was 01 when the offroad package became the FX4 package. You could get a King in 01. The motors changed some in those years.

 

the gauge clusters are different, the 97-98 has an analog odometer where as the 99+ has digital, and has different pcms for that. slight motor differences in the 4.2 and 4.6 (not sure bout the 5.4)

like said trim levels were changed, the doors were redesigned on the inside, seats, slight changes in some dash panels (not much and not noticeable unless both are next to each other), and then of course the front bumper and grill. rears are the same and the flairside(screw) taillights changed

 

Thanks guys,I am still trying to decide if I want to buy my dads truck from my step mom.He passed away last week and has a 1998 lariat extended cab with only 31000 miles on it.He bought it new.I own a 2001 xlt extended cab with 102000 miles. She wants $8000 for my dads truck so I cant aford both so I am trying to make a decision.$8000 just seems on the high side to me but maby not.

 

8k does sound a little high depending on the condition and what motor it has.

It's all up to you really if it's what you want or want to hang on to it

wow that is a crisis. i love my 1998 but compared to the features the 99+s have, its a dinosaur.

 

PI Change: -The 4six engine changed in 01. The 5four changed in 99 Jake.

The 4six's were upgraded to COP systems in 2000. If you wanna call it an upgrade lol.
