my little red f150

well this is my build tread. Our project today... and everyday is a 1997 f150 xlt, 4x4 5.4 triton. A list of mods that have already been taken care of:

performance:

homemade CAI
true dual 2.25 exhaust with 3in ss tips
flowtech shorty headers
edge programmer on 93 octane
4.10 gears

Looks: outside
black cab lights
valence running lights
homemade ss running boards
homemade ss headache rack
rear led bar
chrome handles
fog lights in the grill
some brushguard I stuck together
centerline aluminium rims
BFG AT 285/75/r16 tires
and a crappy off brand paint in bed liner

Inside:
pioneer sterio
synthetic suede seat covers
painted the doors, like 3 years ago, look rough

Whats gonna happen

Performance:
PI head swap, I'll do alittle P&P work
cams, not sure which, suggests would be appriciated
Efans
a steeper gear

exterior:
Homemade front and rear bumpers
homemade tail light guards
maby some custome paint
cowl hood
MORE LIGHTS!!!!!!!!
oh and a new freakin bed liner....

Interior:
ok don't flame me, but a set of leather seats from a dodge durango. bad thing is they have the ram emblem on them, but my aunt has me covered with a red built ford tough emblem to cover it
vinyl floor
new paint
and a center consel that is a cooler

Sounds like a fun project you have there. Here's the "how to" on creating an album and posting pics.

Hurry up. I'm impatient today.
All these posts with no pictures. Ive had it.

J/K

Whats with all the homemade stuff? You got a fab shop? I need some rock sliders, how much? LoL
Painting the door panels was risky. I'm not a fan of any interior accessories other than some nice seats and a good console. Painting and overlays are a big nasty if you ask me. Gauges are acceptable. I want to see all these things, including the homemade CAI, so, seriously... hurry up

lol, sorry about the wait my work is kinda odd schedualed.
I'll get some better pics tomorrow during the day.
I like making stuff. problem is I'll be driving down the road and see something I like and Say "I want one". then I check the prices, crap my self, and think on it for a few days and decide I can make my own and customize it
Yes, I have a shop, but it still lacks all of the equipment I need but the local blacksmith shopgive me a hand with shearing metal and doing the bends untill I get my press.
Right now I am building the rear bumper:
seen a superduty with one of these, so figured I'd use paint and Mocked this up

me making the measurements and fitting the skin

And this is the fruit of about 4 hours of work, the skin is 1/8 steel and the frame is 1/4" x 3" angle iron. still need to cut the holes for the lights, make the mounts for the clevis, and paint. may finish it on sunday. wont get anything done tomorrow, have the work from 5am till 3 pm, then at 5 have to drive my limo for a wedding, then a bachelor party at 7 till 2.

ps: this isn't in my shop, been having to work late at the slaughter house so there is a garage out back with ac I've been using for my small stuff.

update!!! New Pics

got the holes cut for the lights and got the mounts and clevis mounted. I added more supports behind the clevis to reduce the risk of bending the bumper when pulling. would have finished but ran out of welding wire. might be able to finish tommorrow night and paint tuesday.

thanks wasn't that bad to make really. total cost will be about 110 when finished, not including my time. Can't wait to start the front!!!!!

need advise, I suck with color combos (color blind in one eye). what would look better, red bumper with black accessories or black bumper with red accessories?

the stock bumper wieghed 60 lb, this one weighs close to 100lb. I look at this to be a good thing to maybe improve my ride. the rear end is so light it jars the hell outa me when unloaded.

The good and the freakin bad

well, the bumper is painted and mounted to the truck, I will hook up the lights tommorrow and post some pics. the paint is already scratched from me trying to mount it, but I have enough to tape it off and fix it. when it is all dry I will wet sand the clear coat.

BAD NEWS!!!!!!!
I have always said I had 4.10 gears because my cousins who own the truck would buy 5 at a time and ordered them all the same. When they bought trucks in 97, then ordered 4 black xcab with a 4.6 and 4.10, and my truck. when he sold it to me he said it had 4.10 as well, but everyone on here acted like the truck shouldn't kick outa overdrive going up hills and mine does. since my bumper was off, I used my forklift and lifted the rear end of the truck, put a piece of tape on the drive shaft and on one tire. I spun the tire 1 full revolution and the drive shaft only spun 3 and a half turns. SO I HAVE 3.55s!!!!! CRAP, more work....

guess I need to start researching gears. 285/75/ r16 and I spend most of my time outa overdrive in the 2200- 3300 rpm range. any oppinions would be appriciated.
I wonder if my guy up north will do my truck too, he's getting read to put 3.73 in the stang for $320 (gears, bearing and labor).
