Carpenter's SVT Lightning Conversion Thread
im watching. id love to get my hands on a complete drivetrain for 2K. but then id have to drop another 1k to put my 4.56 in the new rear
thats in his parts list because it is needed.
haha. iceman(tts) is using a 4.6 since everyone has a 5.4 he says
What the hell is this saved spot crap ? Better get yourself fixed, think you have a screw loose.
Also, why in the hell don't you purchase a lightning if that's what you want ?
The only fun ones to watch are the lifted trucks and 4x4's IMO. Hell, you could of sold your 97 and purchased a 99 lightning, - most likely cheaper..
Should I save a space for my next comment ? Or just edit this one, Geezzz Mann

He was just being creative. Give him some credit.
That is A LOT of work, shopping, time and money. Sounds like it should be a fun truck though. But will never earn a lightning badge in the end is the bummer part. Still fun. Lets see some pics NAO.

hey it may not be a real lightning but sure will look like one and you can tell people it is a lightning people that arent ford people wont know the difference, maybe even some ford guys wont know the difference if he does a good job, and he could buy a real lightning but he already has a truck and now the parts so go for it and we need pics
I can certainly understand the "fun and challenge" aspects of this type of project, as compared to just going out and buying one. If you're anything like me, that's what a hobby is all about ...
Yea but..... There's a better way . Well, I guess everyone has their own way of doing things. None the less, I'll be watching and help if I can.
Good luck carpenterltd.
Good luck carpenterltd.
Anyway, average price for one in good condition is around $5000.
A new 2003 lightning motor that I bid on a few years ago went for $6700. I went as high as $3800 before I backed out. It was a nice engine tho.
Figures...one day into it and already got a flammer.
I saved spots because one spot only allows for a certain amount of characters before it's full and another post is needed. I want all of my steps at the beginning of this thread instead of gapped all the place. That and one huge clustered post is disorganized. I am fixed...3 boys are enough for me bro.
I already have my truck; paid for. When I bought it originally, I didn't want a Lightning. I finished my GT>Saleen project, so why not start this project? We're not all wealthy enough to say, "What the hell, think I'll buy another truck today..."
Yeah, that's in your opinion. I personally like watching people transform whole cars/bikes/trucks...not just adding lift kits, decals, or window tint. The KBB for my truck is like $1500...a used '99 Lightning with the same mileage goes for $10,000+....I'm less than 4 grand deep in my project. So no man, it's not cheaper by far.
Too late for that now huh?
