expedition/navigator console install

i finally got everything finished. cutting the 60 seat was actually much easier than expected. i am happy to let everyone know that you can save your money on buying the $350 seat components from ford because you can use what you already have. will soon be posting pics and somewhat of a "how to"
****Since there is many threads out there on installing the console I am going to skip to the part I think will be most helpful to everyone.
A lot of people have sent their 60/40 seats to upholstery shops to have them reshaped into buckets and once the seat is returned they buy a new bucket seat frame from ford and that costs about 350 from what I have read on this site. This should help you cut your seat without needing the new bracket
If you have and questions pm me and I will try to help
-Start off by removing the flip down console. There are two bolts on the right frame (view from rear) that are under the fabric. Pull out plastic retainer and fabric should slide up to expose bolts.
-There is also bolts on the other frame… once removed the console should lift off
-Underneath there should be some fabric clips. These need to be undone
-Start removing fabric from middle section and pull to passenger seat
-Once the foam is exposed you should see a grove that separates the bucket from center. This helps out tremendously when trimming the foam. I used a hacksaw to cut away the center foam
-Next I cut away the thin metal plate between the seat and frame to provide working space. Use the foam as a guide to draw your cutting line (sharpie works great). The goal is to match the middle side to the door side. dont copy the pic this was just the first cut
-Underneath the seat you can see 4 bolts that connect the plate to the frame. Remove the foam and plate.
-This part was the biggest relief of the process…. After taking out the 4 bolts the tube style support should slide out in the direction your middle used to be.
-With the support out mark a guide line on each tube fairly close to the mount holes. In this cut you want to get rid of the piece that connects the tubes near the seat belt. Cut away the support for middle section.
-Now start putting it all back together and don’t forget to clip down all of the upholstery in the correct places.
-to trim the extra fabric from your middle seat to fit the bucket you should pull it down snug and have the seat layed on its door side. find a place that you can use a spare upholstery clip and full fabric to the location find correct fit that doesnt pull foam down too much and mark a spot about two inches beyond that point. the two inches gives you extra material to sew on the clips.
