Spark plug and head question

i drive a natural gas 02 4x4 f150. my truck blew #3 plug. so i wanted to ask.
1. what have you guys done to get it fixed?
2. is there an aftermarket head out there that takes up all the treads of the plug that isn't crazy expensive?

all this is out of my mechanical knowledge so any help would be great. thanks

Most of the guys rent a Timecert kit and repair the head. You can get it from a member here, Galaxy. Also, when changing plugs, torque them to 28 without antisieze.

Yep it's a pretty straight forward repair, and renting the kit is much much cheaper than getting it fixed at the shop.

what exactly does this kit do?
i have been getting a lot of confusing information about this repair. people saying put antiseez (can't spell) on it and poeple saying don't do it. so why would you not? i figured i can trust info on here a little more than a shop just saying whatever to get my money.
does having one plug blow make the rest ready to go also? if so is there any way to prevent it from happening?
thanks for the info.

Use the Search tab above and do an Advance Search on "sparkplug blowout". You should get a lot to read. With the Timecert, you clean out the hole and intall a sleeve that has new threads. It holds.

There is a company that specializes in this repair and they will come to you and fix your engine. They have done a lot of research on those heads. They put plugs in at 28 ft/lbs, no antisieze. The Motorcraft plugs are nickel coated and no antisieze is needed and it interferes with torquing. Many on here have followed there advice and have had no problems.

The plugs have nickel in the metal they are made of so it is unnecessary. Anti-seize throws off the torque value and it make the plug more likely to loosen-bottom line is DO NOT USE IT period. 28 lbs DRY. If you used it before thats likely the reason your having blow out(s)

thanks for the reply's. i checked out the pictures on the timecerts and it looked pretty simple. just time consuming. does any one have pictures of it done on a truck? seems like the cylinder 4 and 8 would be pretty tough to get to?

I don't have any pictures, but I imagine that the back two would be a pain in the rear to do. If you have a body lift though, it makes things much easier giving you that extra clearance you need to get back there.
