Need some help with my Mods..
Need some help with my Mods..
Well to start off with. I got a 2001 2wd f-150 extended cab and its white with the gray bottom.
Already got a few mods done.
Heres what it looked like before any mods

1. put duals on it; straight pipes with and x-pipe from the cats back. running 2.5 in pipes and two 4 in tips.
2. 3 in body lift.
3. 285/75/16R ProComp Xtreme MT tires
4. And my whip antennae is painted lime green.
After the lift duals and tires.

And I was thinking of taking my front and back bumpers and painting them all black. But I'm not sure which way to approach this.. I've heard of people x-lining them. and I've heard of people sanding em down a little bit and spray painting them.
But I dont know if that will work considering that the middle piece on the front bumper is chrome and the back one is all chrome?
And the handles? Could i take them off and paint them black?
And back tail light? Can i spray paint them with a few coats of black to make them darker during the day?
Any Advice or other ideas would be greatly appretiated!
Thanks guys!

painting chrome is not that easy, you need to sand it down then spray some bulldog liner to actualy make the apint stick and sand some more then if you dont have even coating then it WILL show. The door handles can be taken off and painted no prob. And the tail lights you will need to get some spray tint, just useing black spray paint will actualy paint over your light no matter how light you spray it, and the part you did spray there will be no light coming through. You can get spray tint online or at a custom shop of some sort.(maybe 4 wheel auto or something like that) My buddy just ordered his online.
So for the chrom bumpers.. Whats bulldog liner? and where do i get that?
And like how hard is it to take off the handles?? And where would i find tint spray at?
And how much ya reckon all that would be?

Take the door moulding and hood deflector off JMO. Then look on ebay for a paintable bumper then paint it and your top bumper cap. And you wanting to go with the 4x4 look with the MT tires, I would get someone to make me a custom pipe rear bumper and linex it.

Don't most people try to paint match their handles, tail gate handle, mirrors etc... Painting them black on a white truck will break it apart to much if you ask me, take away from the clean looking flow of color. I would shoot for PTM bumpers and trim pieces and call it good on the exterior. Thats me though.
And depending on your wheels, the white and chrome balance out pretty well if you ask me..

Well I was looking for a way to not spend much money on painting the bumpers and all so if at all possible id like to paint my chrome bumper and all... and i haven't completely decided about the handles yet... prolly gunna paint em black.. but idk yet. might get some one to photoshop it for me.
but how hard is it to take the door panels off? like are they a pain or jus complicated?
And about painting my bumpers and tail lights?
can anyone help explain a lil more how to do that? i still dont understand the whooole thing.
And what about the part around the grille.. its white now.. should it go black too? or leave it? or maybe the honey comb grille should go black? or both?? I dont know guys..
What yall think??
But thanks for the help so far guys!

I wouldnt paint the chrome JMO. I would get a paintable bumper if I couldnt handle the chrome. Leave the door handles alone. Spend your money on somethin else= Wheels? Black low profile tool box? Lift? etc......
OK got the tail lights checked off. got that figured out. ill prolly do the 3rd light too?
Jake--> Bedliner cost too much for me right now. I'd rather paint if possible. But... I might just save up for the bumpers.. you said 40$ for the back one and.. like 225$ for the front along with light bar? How much ya reckon just the front bumper would be?
I'm prolly gunna leave the handles, but what about the door panels? I've narrowed it down to three options.. 1. Leave them white. 2. Leave them but paint them black. 3. or just take them off completely.
And that gray strip on the bottom how hard is it to take that off? or would it look better with it after the bumpers get painted black?
Now... the 4x4 valance.. If i get one, I wanna put some tow hooks on it. because right now there's no where to hook to me in the front. So how hard would it be to get some tow hooks put on after the 4x4 valance?
Thanks guys! Gunna try to upload more pictures today. If the computers not too slow.

Ok this what it looks like RIGHT now washed her yesterday then took the pics.
Thats a 3in body lift.
Went from 265/70 slicks to 285/75 Mud Terrains.
And my duals (not exactly the way i wanted the tips.. but oh well).

And what about more lifts? all I know of is a 2.5 in soil spring spacer in the front and maybe like a 1.5 or 2 in block in the back? but i dont know how aggravating the spacers are? and if im not mistaken dontcha hava to have aftermarket control arms too? and i dont know if they come with the daystar kit? and if not how much the control arms would be?
i know i can lift the back up, easily.. but i dunno many ways to lift the front.. Any ideas?
