any car even with a good working charging system will die if you pull the negative battery cable off. The circuits are all electrically open without a good ground.

unless you are talking about the jumper cable.....

Check out ebay once in awhile, - You can get some killer deals if you watch for them. The highest I paid for one of those items below was $38. Guess which one lol. Well all together those parts were just under $100 shipped. So yea, once in awhile someone will get a hold of a few crate motors and part them out on ebay. Usually their 4.6L Romeo Crown Vic engines,- for some reason.
Anyway, these parts have been bolted down, so they don't sell as new, but they are. Motorcraft originals.

Well first thing i did today was pull out my alternator and did exactly what jbrew did in his pictures and it turned out that the brushes weren't just stuck but completely worn down. Why auto zone thinks that alt is good is beyond me. So completely fed up with auto zone i cruised down to napa and picked up a brand new alt. Put it in and problem fixed!!!! I should have just gone with my initial gut instinct and replaced the alt instead of letting the idiots down at autocrapzone run me around in circles and take all my money!!!!
