eliminating A/C

f150 4wd XLT V8 5.4L
My ac is shot and I think I'm just going to get rid of of it. The diagram on the hood indicates that there is a belt layout for no A/C. It looks like the idler pully has to be swung into a position that would require removing the A/C compressor. What kind of job is it to remove the compressor? Any advice?

The easiest way would be to leave it in place and unplug the compressor. Then it won't come on ever. It will just spin the clutch and you won't have to change your belt size.
Removal isn't hard. Simple tools were all I needed when I removed the entire system from my Mustang. You should have someone suck out the remaining refrigerant.

or you could look up the "A/C Delete" kit from ford racing (and other companies too) and use that. basically its an idler pulley that replaces the a/c compressor. not sure if it comes in an 8 rib version tho, a simple search online should tell you.

You can do the ac delete kit that was mentioned above but there cheaper. You can buy it at autozone and in the instructions it says, "This is only a temporary fix" while there are more exspensive kits, that use better parts.

You should see the inside of the cab, tends to be what happens when you stay in the mud, majority of the life of driving it!

To bad I ported and polished, G/matched everything, just to ditch the whole thing.

But I do believe this set-up will be a little more forgiving, and I doubt it's gonna stay clean either...

Naw no need, I was just cleaning it at the time of that pic...

I never had a sock on the K&N when it was stock on 37's, not saying it didn't need one but never been too big on spending money when it's not needed.
