Iac

Hi All,
I need to replace my IAC. Local parts store says that there are 2 different sizes.
3.43 and 2.48. Thing is I don't even know where the critter is on my engine. Need some help directing me to the proper location. I have 2000 F-150 4.5L 4WD.
Thanks for any help
Peter

I dont think you need to replace it, they can be cleaned. We do it all the time. Its located on the back of the throttle body. Has 2 bolts, one 2wire clip going to it. Once you get it off (not much room) youll see on the bottom, it has 2 openings and if you look inside youll see a plunger looking thing and lots of build up. Use some seafoam deep creep or some other good cleaners and spray the heck out of it. Use a q tip and get in there, moving all around the plunger. Make sure the plunger moves freely, give it a quick shot of wd40 and put it back. Good as new.

They don't go bad very often. 99% of the time they can be cleaned

Looks a bit like this

Just did mine this weekend. It's located behind the upper intake. Takes about 3 minutes each to remove and reinstall. Use a 1/4"ratchet with a 8mm socket.
