Picture of extra wires behind headlight switch... (no 56k)
I am in the process of adding some 4WD flair to my '02 F150 V6 XL. I picked up a 4WD valance w/ fog and tow hook openings for $36, some fog lights for $34/ea and a new headlight switch off an Expy w/ Fogs and Autolamp for $26.
I got it all hooked up today. Fogs are installed and wired up, valence is good and snug, but the fogs are not turning on.
- I checked the voltage at the fog light connectors (that were pinned up and left dangling under the front end and I am getting 0.0 DC volts from the leads.
- I am somewhat confident I have the right switch, even though I don't have the autolamps. The switch still works to turn on my headlights, the parking lamps, and dims the instrument lighting. I got it off eBay and the guy said it was pulled from an '00 Expedition Eddie Bauer edition.
When I was probing around behind the headlight switch, I found an extra wire set that was pinned into a faux connector. I wonder if this has some extra wires needed to add fog/autolamp to the main connectors?
Anyone have any advice? I have heard of others getting this to work just by bolting everything up without modding anything.
Here you see the extra set of wires pinned into that faux red connection.

I took it out.

Here is the backside of the new headlight switch from the Expy.

The smaller of the stock connectors.

The larger of the stock connectors.

Here is the connector that was pinned into the faux thing. Looks like a legit connector, but what's the use? The headlight switch I have is designed to work with all functions (headlamps, parking lamps, fog lights, autolamp, dimmer). Does not seem likely that there is yet ANOTHER headlight switch that would have a 3rd socket for this connector?
