Ignition hic-up or trans slip?

For the last 6-8 months I've had this occasional "hic-up" ; Like letting off the gas on the freeway coming up on traffic and then accelerating, it'll do this hic-up (like the ignition quits for a second/ or the trans slips a lil bit) maybe 2 or 3 times. Not all the time, just occasionally, but happening more often lately! Got any ideas? The Screw has 120K, serviced the trans and rear end last summer.

I have same issue.

I have the same type of thing going on.
I bought the truck with about 90,000 on it and it now has 150,000.
It has a superchips chip installed. It just recently started the "hiccup".
My truck does it also at idle at stoplight....ever so slightly.
I am going to clean the MAF and probably should just put plugs in as well.
Any recommendations on brand of plug?

I'm the original owner, plugs are Motorcraft about 2 yrs old(changed all plugs when I did the 2 "time-serts" - yep blew out 2 plugs) about the only problem I've had with the truck, till this hiccup thing. Has had full syn oil since the initial break-in

How many miles on it, and other than the 2 blowouts, have you ever replaced any of the coils?

128K miles, did the serts about 3 yrs ago replaced both coils as well. Are you leaning toward it being an ignition problem? I can't tell, it's just this lil hicup thing - though getting lil more frequent.
While driving it'll do the hicup 2 or 3 times, and sometimes maybe 5 or 6 times. Seems to happen more often after letting off the gas, then accelerating; but has also happened at a steady speed.

Wouldn't hurt to throw a couple bottles of Techron in the gas.

If you want to throw coils at it, you can get a whole set on Ebay for about 80 bucks.

You are discribing a classic coil defect.
One coil has "low output" causing the miss.
This type fault does not set a code because the coil is not a hard faut.
Do a search. I have explained it over and over many times.

Thanks bluegrass, I had done some searching but couldn't decide if it was an ignition(or where in the ign), or trans problem. Did more searching and came across your lengthy post explaining the coil problem. Nice write up, I printed it for my file! To bad the FAQ & Tech Articles aren't categorized(I'm not bitchin cause I don't have the time to do it)
Anyway, I ordered up a set of coils since they're the originals, except for the 2 the spark plugs took out.
