Why is my speedometer suddenly jumping around? 2003 V6

I've changed both in the last year. None of the other gauges are flipping out. A friend said it's probably the speed sensor.

A friend of mine had a Sport-Trac that did this same thing. Speed sensor was the culprit. Before you start spending money go get it scanned. Save yourself the headache if you can.
